Hey Doug, How much amplification do your modded AMT need? Would they be driven by comparable to the GS-1, or are they power monsters like the K1000? Sorry for hi-jacking the tread.

I also have been suggested to take the Yamaha RH5-ma dynamics, which seem the most viable choice. Turns out the sister doesn't seem keen on wearing cans, so I'll leave her cooking for a bit.

Hey guys, I need some advice. I am looking for a headphone to give to my sister so that she can listen to music from her laptop. I want the best bang for the buck, so orthos come to mind. My requirements are that it is cheap, it sounds good (damped pro30 level) and it's easy to drive (easier than the Pro30/SFI). Can you throw in some suggestions?

Colin, let us know how the flat pads work. I think you are doing right in heavily modding the housing/cable of the RP18. They wonderful shape has turned off almost anyone from raping them, but it's about time to bring them to their full potential.

Yes, each layer is made that way. Essentially, right now you are listening to the best iteration of the RP18 as I heard it, but having added a reflex dot you might be perceiving some more treble. The nice thing of the RP18 is the great smoothness, and the sense of clarity and resolution they produce even with such a roll off. But the overall feeling lacks some necessary…
