It's amazing how the sound of ortho drivers can change with cup size. It's so easy to try with an east german RFT HOK80v2. I have attached the driver to the baffle together with the annoying ring dingus. It becomes a small chamber for the driver so that one can try the sound without putting the cups on. Just putting my hand over the back opening of the baffle transforms…

Now that we're already talking about old headphones, I've finally got some Mogami cable with Neutrik plug for the old Peerless PMB-80. I also replaced the blutak damping of the bass-cancellation vents with thick dense felt. Changing several things at the same things has the added bonus that it will for sure sound different compared to how it was.
